You Capture: Depth of Field

Photobucket I stumbled upon this really cool website (clink on the link above) and decided to participate in this week's photo challenge. Depth of Field. It really kicked my butt because the camera was NOT doing what I wanted it to do. Ha ha...I'm afraid that I"m being a bit resistant and have a difficult attitude towards change towards my new camera which is a replacement for the one that was broken months ago. It isn't anything fancy just a point and click like my old one but it has taken some learning. Well, as I worked towards this challenge I constantly found myself saying...but my old camera would have...but in the end I came up with this...

This is the top of one of my bean poles...where the spider that finally ATTACKED me by JUMPING at me was hiding.
I really don't like spiders. I don't but this "jumping spider" as I have named them seemed small enough for me to deal with. And he was outside. I tend to do better when they are in their own environment and not imposing on mine.

This is what I was really going for before the whole spider incident.

  1. Oh my word. I'm not afraid of spiders, but once I was trying to kill one that was on the ceiling and it jumped on to me and it was not cool at all. Glad you survived!

  2. your point-and-shoot shots are fantastic. The spider seriously creeped me out, but kudos to you for shooting it anyway...I would have probably thrown my camera at it and run.

  3. Nasty, nasty creatures, you are much more brave than I would have been in the same situation. I LOVE your shots though. I especially like the first one, I can just see that little jumping spider flying out of the top of your pole right towards the camera.

  8. An attack by a spider!! Oh my goodness... I am glad you survived. Those spider bites can be so itchy and hurt for far too long. As my husband has reminded me sixteen times in the last week. We are pondering when & where the spider attack happened.

  12. I would have been four counties away from that spider after he had jumped on me! I have a decent case of arachnophobia. YIKES! Cool shots, though!

  13. ACK!!! Great captures, but geez...that's way to close for me to get near a spider. Call me a wimp...everyone else does. The shots really are fantastic though...welcome to the You Capture bunch. :)

  14. Love the first & last photos! I find myself doing the same thing going from my point & shoot to my daughter's expensive DSLR. "My P&S can do this, why can't THIS???"

Frustrating, but a great way to learn!
