Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I'm super excited to be able to participate in this week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday! And my first time linking up with Kat over at Exploring with a Camera! I've been experimenting a lot this past week with the free photo sharing app/editor instagram which I love!! As I mentioned in a previous post this week I love the square format and the retro looking filters you can apply. All of my photos were taken with my ipod and edited with the free app instagram.

Reflections In Glass
I'm not necessarily an old car freak or anything but I think my dream car would be something old and gangster looking in black! Anyway, knowing that I wanted to participate in the scavenger hunt this week I had it in my head that I wanted the headlight prompt to be from an antique car. On the drive to the pool I noticed the Packard sitting in the lot of an antique shop. On the way back it was still there and we pulled over. Then, while snapping away I noticed this reflection in the glass! That's my white Pacifica with my family patiently waiting inside with wet swimming suits so that, "Mom can take another picture." And that white suv under the open flag is seen through the car and the window on the other side.

Vacation Favorites

I call P and S "The Little Ones." They are 17 months apart and closer in age than their big sister who is 3 years older than P. Anyway, I love everything about this picture. They really are best friends although neither of them will admit it. S is younger but just as tall as P...they remind me of twins. On the 6 hour drive to our vacation spot I passed the time by making the friendship bracelets on their little wrists. I pray that they will always be close.

Inspiration Instagram

I've had the instagram app installed on my ipod for a few months now but just yesterday decided to sign up and actually use it. I love it just as much for the photo editing as the sharing. It's very inspiring!

Tin flowers that I bought at the farmer's market.

Native Prarie from just around the corner.

I love the old square format retro looks that instagram offers. The three that follow were taken yesterday at an old abandoned train station in a neighboring town.

You can follow me on instagram @ karlinha74.

Morning

Esta lloviendo. La manana llueve lagrimas. Lagrimas que no dejo caer. Anhelo. Suspiro... que caigan como la lluvia. Mas no. Padezco de ellas.

M and her best friend T. I had asked them to pose for a quick picture but something grabbed their attention and they both turned to look at the same time...and then I snapped.

Spring Pumpkins

I love watching the life of my pumpkins. I love discovering the flower on the vine in late summer and then waiting to see if it will turn into a small pod. I get excited watching it get bigger and rounder each day. And once its size has been determined it slowly begins to change colors and I love the day that one of the kids asks if they can pick it and they celebrate finally being able to hold it in their hands. I love that moment when I decide, after watching and waiting that I will pick one. We worship our little pumpkins through the harvest when we put them up on the wall to be admired by all who pass by. They make me smile seeing their round bellies all lined up in a row keeping watch over us working and playing outside.
And then when the cold comes the less frequent visits are surprising ones because of their diminishing color and warping bodies. And when the snow falls they are buried until...today. He's so beautiful isn't he?

This year I only managed to save one and I photographed him a few times. Compare these with the 2009 pumpkins here.
They shell is thin, dry, and dotted with mold and fuzzy growths. The hole appeared this week and seems to be his way of trying to tell us something.

The view from the back looks as though he has turned and is leaning his back so as to face the sun.
